Today the 2016 EU Literary prizes were announced. Estonian writer Paavo Matsin was among the 12 winners.
Many friends of literature may not know the best Estonian novel of 2016 The Gogol Disco is actually a third book in a trilogy of magical novels by the writer Paavo Matsin.
The novel Dr Schwarz or 12 Keys of Alchemy, published in 2011, takes place in a dream-like version of the Estonian university town Tartu. The book is out of print, unfortunately. Yet, the libraries must have it. Highly recommended!
The novel The Blue Guard (2013) takes the reader to an adventurous twirl through a dream-like Riga, the capital city of Latvia. The book is still avaliable in the book shops and through our publishing house. Have a happy read!
On March 14th 2016, the Estonian Cultural Endowment announced its annual prizes of the best works of literature published in 2015. The jury awarded the prize for the best fictional prose to Paavo Matsin's novel The Gogol Disco.
